Sectional with Side-by-Side Recliners

Investing in a sectional with side-by-side recliners is a significant decision. This guide will help you navigate the options and choose the perfect model for your home.

1. Determine Your Primary Use

Are you a movie buff, a sports fan, or do you simply want a comfortable spot to read and relax? If you frequently host entertaining gatherings, choose a model with durable upholstery and extra-wide seats. For daily family use, look for stain-resistant fabrics and robust reclining mechanisms.

2. Upholstery: Leather vs. Fabric

• Leather: Offers a luxurious look, is easy to clean, and ages beautifully. Genuine leather is more durable but comes at a premium. For a budget-friendly option, consider faux leather.
• Performance Fabric: Ideal for homes with children and pets. It resists stains, fading, and abrasion. Look for fabrics with a high Martindale score for durability.
• Microfiber: Soft, comfortable, and highly stain-resistant. It's a popular choice for microfiber couches due to its practicality.

3. Reclining Mechanism

• Manual Recline: Operated by a lever or a pull-tab. Simple, reliable, and usually more affordable.
• Power Recline: Offers smooth, effortless operation at the touch of a button. Many models include adjustable headrests and lumbar support.
• Wall-Hugger: A wall-hugger recliner requires less space behind it, making it perfect for smaller rooms or tight spaces. This is a crucial feature if you plan to place the sectional against a wall.

4. Size and Configuration

Consider the size of your living room. Measure the available space and ensure there's enough clearance for the recliners to fully extend. Common configurations include L-shaped and U-shaped sectionals. For smaller spaces, a compact sectional might be more appropriate.

For large families or those who love to host, an 8-person couch or a large sectional with multiple recliners can accommodate everyone comfortably.
